Let the Battle Commence!
Come and experience the Battle of Northampton at Delapre Abbey!
The Friends of Delapre Abbey are again hosting an original and fun filled event!
Opening Times: 11.00am til 5.00pm
At Delapre Abbey, situated on London Road, a fun weekend of Battle related activities on the 3rd and 4th of July 2010 will take place to mark the 550th Anniversary of the original Battle. These are to include:
· Jousting on horseback with full armour
· Gunpowder demonstration
· Static living history displays of a soldiers encampment
· A re-enacted segment of the Battle of Northampton
· Large-Canon Demonstration
· Period Music
The activities will be created by Plantagenet Events Ltd whom have a track record of participating in major events around the country.
In addition there will be a varied selection of market traders and food stalls to browse! medieval food, Real Ale and Old English Cider will be available for visitors enhancing the experience of the Battle of Northampton!
This is a fantastic opportunity for residents of Northamptonshire to witness at first hand how Northampton was fought over and all in the historic surroundings of Delapre Abbey!
The Friends of Delapre Abbey are still looking for help from schools and colleges in Northamptonshire, creating life sized Flags and Shields themed on the War of the Roses.
This is an exciting opportunity for local schools to be involved in this local historical event!
